To help serve you better, we have

not answered below, we would love to talk to you about it,

Does the funeral home provide a wide
range of funeral and cremation services? A funeral service is a
tribute and a recognition of a life lived. Each service reflects that person
being honored as well as the needs of the survivors.
The deceased
may have been very involved in his/her church and may have requested a church
service. Another family may wish only private services with selected friends
and relatives. Our staff recognizes that each family will have different needs
and different ways in which they wish to memorialize their loved one. It is
during this decision making process that the highly trained and qualified
personnel at Hetrick's can be most helpful.
Our staff will give families all the possible choices and help create
a meaningful service that best fulfills the family's needs. In addition, we
offer after-care services to determine what further support is needed for such
issues as settlement of the estate, Veteran's benefits, Social Security and
other aspects pertinent to recovery.

Is the Hetrick Funeral Home part of a large conglomerate or
locally owned? Hetrick Funeral Home's motto, "A helping hand
before, during, and after your time of need," is not just a series of words
for an advertisement; this is part of our mission statement.
The Hetrick family has owned the funeral home since it was founded in
1942. The founder, George M. Hetrick Sr., was an active community leader. He
was involved in the formation of the Penbrook Lions Club and the Colonial Park
Rotary Club. He was active in many civic projects throughout Dauphin County.
Like his father, Graham S. Hetrick has also followed the tradition of giving
back to the community. He is a member of the Susquehanna Township Lions Club,
the American Legion, the V.F.W., the Colonial Park Rotary, a 32nd degree Mason,
and works with several programs that aid troubled children within the community.
Our family and staff continue with this tradition. We serve the
community family in their time of need and take this mission seriously and
personally. We answer to our families, not to some corporate stockholder in
some distant location.

Does a funeral service or cremation service have to be costly? What
is costly? A funeral home like any other business has an overhead. We have
staff on call 24 hours a day. Our facility is well maintained and can satisfy
the needs of most families within the community.
Imagine if you had
to arrange the following:
Rent an operating room, which complies with all government regulations
concerning public health and universal precautions.
Obtain a staff including medical personnel, office staff, activities
coordinator, and drivers.
Rent specialty vehicles such as limos, a hearse, flower cars and removal
vehicles.
Rent a facility to conduct the service and supply ample parking.
After obtaining all these items the coordinator would have to see to
the proper legal certifications, proper notices such as obituaries and
coordination of clergy, staff and vehicles.
As one realizes that these are all components of the normal funeral
services, one may understand why a funeral home must make reasonable charges.
Considering all that is done during a funeral service, it is really not
expensive.
All funeral homes are required to provide a consumer with their price
list for all services. The Federal Trade Commission regulates this requirement.
If you contact one of our staff we will gladly send you a copy of our General
Price list.

What should a family do if a death occurs out of town? Call
Us
If you are intending to have services at the Hetrick Funeral
Home but a death occurs out of town, you should call the Hetrick Funeral Home at
the time of death. We are skilled in handling out of town deaths with transport
to the Harrisburg area.
It is much less expensive to have only one funeral home involved in
the arrangements, that is why the funeral home doing the actual services should
be called first. It is then our job to make the transportation arrangements and
file the proper legal documents.

Should children attend a funeral service or viewing? Children
should be part of a family's grieving process. Death is a part of life and only
recognizing loss teaches us the stark reality that death is a fact of life.
Children see death in different ways at different times in their development.
Graham Hetrick has lectured extensively on death and dying and the
grieving process. We also have a lending library at the funeral home that is
open to the community.
If you should have any questions regarding a particular circumstance
just give us a call.
